Bringing Relief to Depeyin
We share an update from a village in Depeyin Township that has been impacted by recent aggression on the part of the military for your consideration. Depeyin Township in Myanmar is an area deeply affected by the ongoing political turmoil and opposition against the military junta. We are targeting one village in particular which has been especially impacted by recent violence instigated by the regime, with 122 households having been burnt, resulting in a dire humanitarian crisis. The civilians in this area have been steadfast supporters of the democracy movement, facing significant oppression and hardship as a consequence.
The current situation there is now dire, with a refugee count totaling 261 people. After our local team conducted a ground needs assessment, we found that this includes 47 individuals over 60 years old, 67 underage children, 3 pregnant women, and 2 individuals with disabilities. These vulnerable groups are in urgent need of assistance and support.
We hope to provide immediate relief to the affected households. We plan to distribute food aid, starting with a quota of 20 cups of rice and 1 liter of oil per household. Prioritization will be given to pregnant women, individuals with disabilities, the elderly, and families with children. However, please note that due to the high-intensity battles in the region, procurement and delivery of funds may take up to 4 weeks or longer. We will work diligently to ensure safe and efficient delivery under challenging circumstances.
