Food for Freedom: Still Hungry for Support, Still Hungry for Change!

With the generous support of donors, we have been able to provide assistance to 129 individuals in Mizoram and 70 families along the Thai-Myanmar border. These families include those of soldiers who have left the army, seeking refuge along the Myanmar border and in ethnically liberated areas. As the challenging period extends now nearly three years, there is a pressing issue of inadequate food for the CDM soldiers and policemen across various regions.

The families of soldiers residing in Mae Sot and along the Thai-Myanmar border in Karen State, as well as those seeking shelter on the India-Myanmar border in Mizoram, are facing urgent needs for basic food items like rice, oil, and other necessities.

Thanks to the support received, we have been able to provide essential provisions to 63 CDM soldier families in Mae Sot, 7 CDM soldier families in Karen State, 101 families of police and army CDMs in the rest of Mizoram state, and 28 families of police and army CDMs in Kyora district. Each family received 1 bag of rice, 3 cans of oil, and 12 cans of sardines.

Additionally, 101 families in Mizoram and 28 families in Kyora district were able to purchase rice and oil rations with Indian rupees, amounting to 33,658.

The impact of these food packages is substantial. They not only provide essential sustenance to those facing food insecurity, addressing hunger as a primary concern, but also alleviate financial burdens for CDM families by reducing their grocery expenses. This allows them to redirect funds towards other critical needs such as healthcare and education.

Moreover, these food donations foster a sense of solidarity and support within the communities, encouraging a collective effort to combat hunger and poverty. While we are grateful for the assistance received, there remains an ongoing need for support as we continue to aid those supporting the democracy movement and resisting the military. Your contributions make a meaningful difference in improving the well-being and quality of life for those in need, and we appreciate your continued support in addressing the ongoing challenges faced by these communities.
