Dear Donors and Supporters,

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to each of you for your incredible generosity and ongoing support, which has allowed us to deliver critical aid to some of the most vulnerable children and teenage girls living in refugee camps in Mizoram, India. Your contributions have had an enormous impact on the lives of over 300 young children and 230 teenage girls who are facing unimaginable hardship. Thanks to your help, we’ve been able to provide vital resources, bringing hope and relief to these communities in need.

Our project focused on two key groups: children under 10 years old and teenage girls in the Laki and Tuipang refugee camps in the Siaha District, Mizoram. These camps shelter over 10,000 refugees, primarily from Chin State and families displaced by the Civil Disobedience Movement in Myanmar. Due to the ongoing conflict in Myanmar, the refugee population fluctuates, making it difficult for these camps to maintain consistent support. The aid you have provided came at a crucial time, reaching some of the most overlooked members of these communities.

For the teenage girls, we distributed dignity kits to 230 of them, each containing washable sanitary pads designed to last up to 20 months. These kits were more than just essential hygiene supplies—they restored dignity, privacy, and confidence. Many of these young women had been managing their menstrual needs with inadequate resources, which affected not only their physical health but also their emotional well-being. The dignity kits have significantly eased this burden. One teenage girl, upon receiving her kit, expressed her relief, saying, "Receiving this dignity kit has brought me so much relief. I feel like a weight has been lifted, and I no longer need to worry as much." These words speak to the profound impact your support has made, helping these young women regain their confidence.

In addition to helping teenage girls, your donations also provided vital aid to over 300 children under 10 years old. This included 308 sets of clothing, 150 umbrellas, and 200 bottles of albendazole liquid along with 100 albendazole tablets. These items addressed both the physical and emotional needs of the children. The clothing helped protect them from the elements, while the umbrellas were not just practical during the rainy season but brought joy and a sense of normalcy to their lives. The albendazole medication was crucial in combating parasitic infections, a common issue among refugee populations, which helps to prevent malnutrition and other health problems.

Reaching the camps was not without its challenges. Heavy rains made transportation difficult, especially for Kaki Camp, which is located along the Bawinu River on the Myanmar border. Our team had to hire a boat to navigate the river and deliver the supplies. Despite these obstacles, we successfully reached both the Laki and Kaki camps, ensuring that every child received the aid they needed. The happiness of the children as they received their new clothes and umbrellas was a sight to behold, and their laughter was a testament to the power of small acts of kindness.

Beyond the material aid, the emotional impact on these children and teenage girls was immeasurable. The relief in the faces of the teenage girls who received dignity kits, and the sheer joy of the children playing with their new umbrellas, underscored how much your contributions have meant to them. In a time of extreme uncertainty and instability, these items restored a sense of dignity and hope, allowing them to focus on their futures despite the harsh conditions around them.

The project also had a profound impact on the wider community. Parents, many of whom felt helpless in providing for their children, were deeply touched by the support they received. Knowing that people far beyond their borders care about them has renewed a sense of hope and unity within these families. Your contributions have not only provided immediate relief but have also fostered resilience and solidarity within the refugee camps.

There were, of course, challenges. The population in the camps is unstable due to the ongoing conflict, which made assessing needs and delivering supplies difficult. Transportation was another major hurdle. The limited availability of vehicles, particularly the small Sumo van, which could only carry 10 passengers and a small amount of supplies, made it difficult to deliver aid quickly. Additionally, competition for space on the van between our team and members of the host community further slowed the process. However, our team was determined to overcome these obstacles, and with careful planning, we were able to successfully distribute all the materials to the camps.

While we are proud of what we’ve accomplished together, we know that there is still much work to be done. Looking ahead, we hope to expand our support in several key areas. Providing more educational materials, such as books, notebooks, and learning aids, will help keep children engaged in their education and contribute to their long-term development. We also aim to increase the distribution of dignity kits, not just for teenage girls, but for women of reproductive age, to ensure that all women can manage their hygiene with dignity. Additionally, we hope to provide basic medicines, including fever reducers, antiseptics, and deworming treatments, which are crucial for addressing common health issues in these camps.

We are also working to develop better systems for monitoring the changing population dynamics in the refugee camps so that we can distribute aid more effectively. Feedback from beneficiaries will help refine our approach and ensure that we are meeting their most pressing needs.

In conclusion, this project was an incredible success thanks to your support. Despite the logistical challenges and difficult conditions, we were able to reach over 300 children and 230 teenage girls, providing them with the supplies they desperately needed. The joy and gratitude expressed by the children, the relief felt by the girls, and the hope renewed in the hearts of their families underscore the power of your generosity. We cannot thank you enough for making this possible and for continuing to stand with us as we work to support these vulnerable communities.

With your help, we look forward to making an even greater impact in the future. Thank you for your unwavering support.
